Recognizing that a life well lived is a debt well paid, there is yet a time for direct accounting.
Trusting in the goodness and
mercy of God, we pledge ourselves to the nonviolent path of the peaceful Christ.
We will strive for inner-peace by:
Respecting ourselves in mind, body and spirit
Walking by faith, seeking hope and growing in love
Yearning to know the Good News through prayer
Cultivating a deeper self-awareness
We will strive for peace within our community by:
Addressing conflict in a timely and mature manner
Celebrating diversity and remaining conscious of tendencies to exclude
Engaging in respectful and open communication
Supporting each other in abiding companionship
We will strive for peace within our Church by:
Realizing its mission and healing its wounds
Answering our call to witness the Kingdom
Continually discerning our role in and responsibility to the Body of Christ
We will strive for peace within our world by:
Living within our means in a way that we do not deprive others of the means to
live
Calling for an end to all violence and injustice
Opposing structures of sin through education and action
Maintaining a universal respect for life and creation
Throughout our lives we pledge to live this commitment. Let us reflect on our
progress towards becoming nonviolent and peaceable people.
Pause for reflection
God, we trust in your sustaining love and believe that just as you gave us the
grace and desire to live this, so you will also bestow abundant grace to fulfill
our share of the covenant. Amen.
